Hudsonville, MI - A great day for tennis Saturday had the Byron Center Bulldogs beating host Hudsonville 8-1, then beating D1 powerhouse Okemos 5-4, and finally taking the loss against D3 powerhouse Holland Christian 4-5. “It came down to the last match of the day against Holland Christian at 4th doubles where we lost the match 11-9 in a third set tie breaker”, said varsity head coach Andy Ely. “With this match and a few others, we could have just as easily taken the team win against them today, so I’m pleased with our overall performance. It is great for our team to face this level of competition as this is what it will feel like at states in October.” With the wins, Byron Center ties its all time record for 20 dual wins in a season improving its mark to 20-4. Next up - the OK Green conference tournament at Jenison High school this Friday starting at 9am. BC is looking to go back to back as conference champions.
